I traded a mandolin for this violin and one other. I was quite surprised at how open and strong this violin was.
In restoring it, I added a new neck, as well as a fingerboard, because the original was dyed maple wood. The peg holes were reamed to fit the violin pegs that came with it. Great fit!
This a is a great violin with lots of pizazz and presence. A local well-known fiddle player from Yackandandah really liked this violin when he played it before I did a more to complete the final setup. So it should sound even better.
I have added a new 'two trees' Despeau bridge and ebony nut. The strings on it are Thomastic Dominants.
I really like the open grained top and the sunburst yellow and brown colour on the back. Quite unique really!
